I love also how when you get the Gravity Boost, it adds an additional piece to your suit in the back, similar to how the grapple beam is it's own separate piece added on. Like you're slowly completing the look with separate items.

From some of what I heard a big issue with the "Adam telling Samus to disable all her weapons" was some translation errors, he DID tell her to disable some weapons, especially power bombs, but then she just, also disabled all her abilities too because she has issues with authority and wanted to spite Adam a bit for telling her what to do. If I am wrong about this though I'd R E A L L Y wanna know lmao

I remember playing Prime 3 for the first time and getting chills when I saw that Samus' face and eyes changed because of the corruption. It was not a detail I expected to see.

Ok did you seriously just say the echos varia is better than the dread suit??? Dude. MP2 varia has got to be the most unjustifiably overrated suit design in the entire series. I would personally put it dead last, BEHIND the fan art suit (Samus returns)

I really liked Metroid Fusion's ingame color scheme because it felt like a really beautiful tri color theme. Fusion looked like blue, cyan, and yellow, Varia looked like yellow, green, and magenta, and the gravity suit is my all time favorite color scheme; purple, cyan, and green. I've just always liked the color scheme.

Samus has always been sexualized, her first appearance was as a corny pin-girl and then super metroid had her showing abs but i really disliked how the 'zero suit samus' since then has just been a very dainty curvy woman which feels much more like pandering because Samus should be a fucking strong muscular badass. First time they've incorporated the samus' gender (which is still an important part of her character) INTO the suit, she still has those ridiculous shoulder pauldrons but with the curvy lower half it brings harmony between samus' 2 sides

I think they should put it other games, but tone it down a bit. I think it would be a really nice motif for a suit, or maybe even have Samus's suit have more of a subtle Metroid motif. The overall design I think is really good, but maybe not good as more than a finisher like it is in Dread. I actually think a redesign of Samus armor to be a more subtle representation of this would be neat, like maybe keep the talons on her fingers, but make them smaller and add fun melee mechanics and such with them. The biggest offput is the jarring color and how busy it looks, but if they toned down the detail, and maybe instead of making the whole suit metroid color, maybe have it so the helmet has the biggest motifs. For example, at the bottom of Samus' helmet add a little bit of white to look like the fangs of a metroid, maybe have the default power/fusion suit have a green visor with three little red dots in the center, and then just altering those palletes for other suits, like cyan and deep purple for Gravity suit. I really do think this could work as the new default design scheme if done correctly and adding JUST enough metroid elements to her suit to make it cool and not cringe

Honestly think this is still probably the best Samus has ever looked, even if it's not "traditional". Although Super will forever be my benchmark.

I actually prefer the yellow honestly. They're complimentary colours and they pop hard. That being said, i agree on everything else you said haha

I love Apple Cork! I too was also enamored by his Ashe redesign. This redesign you commisioned is amazing and i quite like it! The suit redesign and hair length especially. Although I appreciate them, I'm not exactly sure about how I feel about all the muscles. I always envisioned Samus to have more of a gymnast, lean type build, and that her strength was more like OG Wonderwoman's. Not due to any muscle, but dur to her Amazonian/Chozo DNA. All in all, love this redesign. Thought the idea of having the suit markings on her skin to be genius!

Prime 2 had such a creative edge to the suit designs.

I find it funny how Nintendo shut this project down and yet Fans keep going no matter how many C&Cs they get.

Honestly would love to see this return. Maybe it’ll make a comeback in Prime 4. But, getting to the reasoning, think it’s really cool how far they leaned into Samus becoming a Metroid. Was foreshadowed since Fusion and absolutely throughout this game too. One single X fixing that would be really counterintuitive to the lore. Having this be a 1-off thing when she is quite literally part Metroid, it would be disappointing In terms of functionality, think it should be a temporary rage boost upgrade instead of a full suit like she usually has. Having that hyper beam attack would be ludicrously broken for normal gameplay, so maybe there’s a small chance for it to activate when you die. For anyone who’s played Kingdom Hearts two, yes, implying this should work a little bit like Mickey Mouse Personally, the final boss and reveal of this suit was one of my favorite parts of the game. The visuals were immaculate and currently is the most hype moment in the series for me. That warrants a comeback for this

20:00 This is such a frustrating part of being a fan of Metroid and Hollow Knight and games with well-made worlds in general. What most people don't seem to get is that how immersed you are in the world and how much fun you have with the game is a directly proportional relationship, which annoys me to no end when a streamer or UA-camr ignores most of the things that are really cool about the game and is like "the bosses were alright."

the entire game looks amazing, I hope the art direction ha a similar energy to it, the backdrops especially hit that sweet spot of busy enough to feel full and distinct enough to tell where you are, and they seem to breathe

I could of swore the pirstes made dark beam tho? I remember reading logs in the pirate base how they figured out a way to open the portals using a weapon, and that new weapons are always welcome to their arsenal. As the luminoth used their portal generators, but made the light beam. Or did thr pirates find it than reverse engineer it?

Well, I think we understand you hate the game.... I personally love other M, for story and such. The only thing I hate about the game is that Samus is following orders, which really isn't how I imagine her, She would just do her thing in the space station without giving a fuck if Adam or the federation want it or not! But really the only thing I really hate, at the sime time I didn't grow up with the game, which would make my view a little different than other would have. I was 8 when other M came out and my interest in the game started 10 years later I guess, so in that sense I know what you mean.

Having a problem with Samus in any way expressing her femininity is a gross misunderstanding of her character. Her using makeup, keeping her hair long, and even wearing heels has never been a problem because despite how hard she fights or how ergonomic her approach to data and technology is, she still chooses to see herself as a woman at the end of the day. Hell, the reason she ever developed a bond with Adam in the first place was because of his trust, and the fact he would refer to her as "Lady." She embraces her femininity and doesn't see herself as just a soldier. I would argue that divorcing Samus from her feminine traits is just as inaccurate as only seeing her for them. I enjoyed this video for what it was, and I wouldn't mind her having a redesign a la that mod, but for the most part this has just been the opposite extreme of how Other M butchered her character.

I also noticed she crouches and stands still like a lady. Like in previous games she moves like a generic spaceman in a mission, but in here you can see traces of female moves if you pay attention.

I think she does change actually. If you look at when the camera zoom in to her face and she transforms, if you look at the bottom left, it looks like she has more feral teeth. Might be a bug but still

I absolutely love the Dread suit. It has a "I can't believe what I'm looking at but I love it" vibe, and compliments Samus' more aggressive nature in the game. Much anticipation when they make a sequel.

I like your theories for the hunters in general. There's just one miss in this one for me. I don't like changing the location that the battle between Weavel and Samus happened at because that gives less time for Weavel to become the badass he is meant to be. I think Brinstar makes sense as he could have been any of the ones you fight during the game. Samus would have fatally wounded him then another space pirate may have come upon Weavel's dying body and managed to get him back to the space pirate labs to be revived and turned into a super soldier. I think Weavel would have needed plenty of time to recover from his injuries, his surgeries, train and prove himself with his changes and enhancements. The pirates may have sent him out to do solo missions given his capabilities and that's why he wouldn't be around during later events, and is why he has his own ship. There may still be enough time for all this even if it is moved to fusion but I think the more time for him to improve the better.

I never had a problem with the way it looked because: 1. Looks like a suit of armor the Luminoth would wear mixed with the power suit. 2. It doesn't look like a traditional power suit upgrade because most of the other ones we've seen are all Chozo tech. While this is tech by a completely different species, so of course it would look very different

As someone who played all Zero Mission, Super and Fusion back to back on my way to Dread, this transformation made a lot of sense. When she absorbed that thing's life I was like "What happened?" Then the realization: "I know! What happened! I know!"

Stupid to assume the colors of such a suit didnt serve any function but were chosen for optical harmony. Also, Samus probably dislocated and nearly tore off her arms wearing any of the suits. Or her body is grotesquely warped while wearing it.

Her suit and the Metroids are effectively two sides of the same coin: biotechnological weaponry. The way the suit recharges and upgrades by defeating enemies is similar to how Metroids absorb enemies (Prime literally built its own bug shaped "suit" and absorbed missile launchers to strengthen itself!) Samus's Metroid suit is effectively the perfect blend of both technologies in one.
